SOVO// was brought about by a convergence of creatives, from a multitude of artistic backgrounds to employ experimental storytelling techniques with transformative results. Each issue of SOVO// has been tailored to a theme or topic of interest. Experimental format and printing techniques allow the viewer to feel the magazine itself as an artistic experience. SOVO// only published original photography shot on film—35mm, 120, 4×5, 116, 616, 600, and FP-100c film, as well as stills from Super 8, 16mm, and VHS. While no two editions are alike, all reflect the internal process of the individual’s personal exploration to self-express. In addition to these tangible publications, SOVO// hosted an online platform, managed a private collection of fine art, and offered an annual writers residency.
